Which is not to say that I hate all fashion that is against the mainstream standard of beauty (http://www.nappturality.com/). But if you can't tell difference between natural hair and ganguro fashion, then...well, what can I say.

Ganguro fashion is different, yes, but it's also okay. I'm not saying you should like it if it's not to your taste. I'm not that much of a fan of it myself. But we, as a society, need to get over the idea that it's okay to judge someone based on their looks and style choices, whatever those may be.

Appearance is the first point of contact with real-life people, and how we craft our appearances communicates a lot about us. Someone who goes to the grocery store in a nice skirt and blouse is presenting a very different look from someone who goes in their pajamas, and thus communicating something about themselves. And if a third person goes to the store looking like they haven't groomed themselves in a year, that's another message, and you've probably got decent odds that your judgment to avoid that person is correct.

Everybody makes judgments based on appearance and that is not, in and of itself, a bad thing. It's what you do after you've made that snap judgment-- whether you let a superficial judgment affect a personality judgment forever after-- that's more important, I think.
