Yeah, this. Apparently there are some people who do the shota version, but I can't tell how much of that is reality and how much of it is blown out of proportion by people like Sailor Quaoar on deviantART, the ones that are pretty anti-AU, anti-aging the boys, anti-animu or any non canon style, etc.
They're fast to pull out the PEDOS card like pedofinder general.

Anyway, yeah. There's quite a bit of shota, yeah, but the overwhelming whole of fandom tends to deliberately age them up to high school age, or subconsciously thinks of them as older, from what I've seen.

When I see them depicted as pre-pubescent, the vast majority of the time it's usually just chaste kisses/hugs/lots of moe blushing.

And the pedo card jumping... the series itself has done far worse than shitty slashfics and crappy shotaporn lolz
