I kind of get you, op. I just see them as really close, supportive friends, who are always there for each other and that sort of thing. But I can't really see them together in any other way. It's that way with all the kids for me. I really have no problem shipping kids and trolls or trolls with each other, but the kids I will always just see as being too much like siblings.

Yeah, I'm the same way. Although I can wrap my head around Dave/Rose for some weird reason or the kids as an OT4, most of the kid/kid pairings (especially the ones that are apparently "canon") feel better as platonic soul bros 4ever to me.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. I don't ever want any of the kids to get with each other, and I've been getting the bad feeling that John/Rose and Jade/Dave is going to be cannon by the end of it.

While admittedly, i don't see the kids that way, i can definitely see why some people would. I really love fanfic that treat them as close friends/siblings instead of romantic partners, and If the comic ended with them like that i'd be pretty happy :)

OP, are you me? I've always thought that ship made no sense, as canon as it may be.

I mean, I shipped DavexRose and JohnxJade when Jade was revealed (hell, still do) but I've adapted to accept JohnxRose as well, it's just that Dave and Jade don't seem to click. They're so opposite that they balance eachother but I don't know if their relationship can be based on that.

They seem more like moirails than matesprits to me.

Yes, exactly! to me they've always felt more like good friends then anything else - I think maybe the reason John/Rose doesn't bother me so much is while i get the same general feeling, it isn't quite as strong. I don't care for the ship at all but at least i can see them getting together, if that makes any sense.

also, i wouldn't call them my favorite ships, but i do love Dave/Rose John/Jade :) Dave and Rose especially have a great dynamic, and i always saw more between Dave and Rose then i ever did for Dave and Jade.

Man, I know that feel! I get that way about John/Rose sometimes.

I think part of my dislike is because I feel like the "vanilla" kid ships (John/Rose, Dave/Jade) are rooted mainly in the need to have everyone fit neatly in the protagonist shipping grid, with the Main Guy paired off with the Main Girl and the Second Main Guy paired off with the Second Main Girl. It's the same tired old trope that plays out in every canon, and lately it looks like Homestuck is going to fall into it too. And I'm just like... DNW.

Maybe that's your issue? :?

While i feel similar about John/Rose, it bothers me a lot less then Dave/Jade. I think partially because unlike Dave/Jade i CAN kind of see it a bit, and partially because honestly, i don't see quite as much John/Rose as i do Dave/Jade, haha.

yeah, i think that's probably part of it. It really doesn't help that the cool/stoic guyxbubbly quirky girl dynamic is one i've always found relatively boring. also i always got the impression Dave sees her as something of a little sister then anything else.

also can i just say that i really love your icon :D
