It's one thing if they're INSISTING that things HAVE to be done a certain way or if they're ignoring your kinkmeme's rules on how to post requests/fills/etc., but if they're making suggestions on how your fandom's kinkmeme might work more efficiently, using Hetalia Kink as an example, that's something else entirely. They should feel free to express that, just as you and the mods who run the kink meme should feel free to ignore it and keep going as per usual if you all feel that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the way your kinkmeme works.

That said, I have no idea why they would want to use Hetalia Kink as an example. For every one thing that works on that meme, there's at least two things broken, IMHO.

So how does this meme run differently from all the others? I'm not in the fandom so I have no idea.

I haven't personally been through many kinkmemes outside of my own fandoms, either, so no worries. I'll do my best to explain some of the things to which I'm referring:

- Request Freezes: Every few pages, the mods of the kinkmeme impose a "Freeze" on requests until a certain number of previously-made requests (usually fifty) are filled. In a very large, very active fandom like Hetalia, I can understand why the fill-to-request ratio might be a concern, so I can't say I personally have any complaints about it. However, I have heard valid complaints from other users on the meme in countries other than that of the mods that this policy doesn't exactly give them a fair chance to make their requests, because they are either at work or asleep during the time period when freezes seem to be lifted most of the time.

- Superfluous posts: I can understand having a separate post for discussion unrelated to fills or for fills that continue after the "Part" of the meme they started on closes or maxes out, so that those don't take up space that could be used for new fills or comments on fills, but there are also two posts just for linking to fills: the Fill List (which the mods follow mostly so they can keep track of the number of fills posted since the beginning of the freeze period) and the Finished Fill List (which serves almost no purpose except for people to post that a certain fill is complete). Both of these, I feel, could be handled in the same posts as the fills themselves, simply by adding a rule that requires fillers to leave a note in the subject of their posts stating whether they're posting an update to a fill or have completed a fill. They're already strongly encouraged to note which pairing the fic deals with (if any) and which kink, so why this can't be added, I am not sure. Certainly it would make things easier for the filler-anons, since they wouldn't have to post a link in another entry every time they updated.

- Incomplete Indices: Far be it from me to demand that someone index every request ever, especially on a meme that has literally thousands, if not tens of thousands, of requests, but if they have already started to index certain requests, I think it's reasonable to expect updates every so often or, if that is not possible, for the task to be handed to someone else. Most of the indices I've checked recently are several months behind, if not a year by now, and nobody seems to be stepping up to the plate. I'm considering trying to help and get a few back up to date, but there is just so much to do that it's hard to know where to begin.

- Arguably Oversensitive Mods: Almost every time I've seen someone have a disagreement on the meme that got the tiniest bit heated, it's been deleted as wank. Even when it's constructive criticism for the author. It's one thing to stop a pointless argument over the number of XYZ pairing fics or kink-shaming over controversial kinks, but it's quite another to delete all disagreements on the meme.

That pretty much scratches the surface of my problems with the meme. I'm sure I'll remember more the next time I go to visit and check on fills I'm following. I can only take so much of the place at one time.
