F!S Anon Meme (the Fifth)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

(LJ's still lagging here and there, good luck.)

There are thirteen crossovers living in my head that will never be written for various reasons (most of which are 'because that's insane'). Comment if you want the synopsis, why it will never be written, or want to adopt it or whatever.

BTVS/Metal Gear Solid, BTVS/Assassin's Creed, BTVS/Digital Devil Saga, BTVS/Chevalier D'Eon, BTVS/Elite Beat Agents
Reaper/Dead Like Me, Reaper/Digital Devil Saga
Dexter/Digital Devil Saga
Silent Hill/Alan Wake/Deadly Premonition (2 variations)
Prototype/Star Trek XI/Doom Movie
Detective Conan/The Crow
How to Train Your Dragon/Sorcerer's Apprentice
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance/everything I have ever loved

Holy crap, someone else has heard of Deadly Premonition!

I don't know a thing about the middle fandom of that set, but I'd love to hear it anyway.

So, pretty much the premise behind Alan Wake is that fake-Stephen King has to investigate this small town with a ~dark secret~ up in Washington State (I think) in order to save his wife from being kidnapped by monsters etc. The mind-screw gimmick is that Alan, the main character, actually wrote the plot of the game, and has to act in accordance to rescue his wife. The end of the game (and the sequel hook) is that he ends up trapped in the otherworld of the town, and has to write his way back out.

Combine this with my sincere belief that Silent Hill and Deadly Premonition take place in the same universe (and that there is no fandom on earth that cannot benefit from a good SH crossover), Heather from SH3, Alan's wife Alice, and post-DP Francis Morgan all end up in Silent Hill for various reasons (the plot of SH3, rescuing Alan, investigating the cult/mysterious disappearances, respectively), and spooky shenanigans ensue. Ultimately they (+York, of course, but only in the Otherworld) end up working together to rescue Alan and make sure Heather comes out alive.

The reason it will never be written? Pretty sure I'm the only person who would be interested in all three, and also I'm really shaky on what actually happened at the end of SH3. Oh well, it's fun to run in my head anyway.

I'd read it.

You might not be able to find anyone else interested in all of those fandoms, but I'm sure there's least a handful of others who like two out of the three. If you can keep the Deadly Premonition and Alan Wake content reasonably accessible to non-fans, you could probably get readers.

Oh my god, anon.

Reaper/Dead Like Me? Silent Hill/Alan Wake/Deadly Prem?

PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HAVE MY BABIES/LET ME HAVE YOURS.

...I mean. Y'know. If you want.

you will never be able to convince me that Gladys and Dolores are not twin sisters, and the thought of the Work Bench crew meeting her never fails to fill me with glee

This is my new head canon. ILU.

I would read that last one only if it involved the collective casts of all the other series telling Marche what a complete self-centered asshat he is and/or beating the tar out of him for trying to destroy all their worlds (you know he would).

haha, no, more like figuring out job sets for every fandom character ever when I'm bored. Also, I just kind of assumed that the world went back to normal after the game, so I'd love to see an aftermath kind of thing where people are asking each other "wtf just happened."

I think Metal Gear Solid/Deadly Premonition would really work.

(Anonymous) 2011-07-30 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
well yes it could work, in that they're both nominally based in the modern world, but what would the plot be? as far as I can recall, there's nothing really in the MGS world that would require/invite investigation by the FBI, especially by an agent who seems to be mostly assigned to serial killers due to his profiling abilities.

Once you got the characters together, yes it would be awesome. I just can't think of anything that could bring them together.

The FBI in MGS canon employed a one-legged sadistic lunatic on a flying platform and had him attempt to nuke loads of people just to screw over the CIA for getting more budget than they did. They are easily insane enough to send York off to profile some terror cases, maybe catch the guy who sunk that Tanker. From here, you just throw in random supernatural/conspiracy elements and try to batshit it as far as it'll go.

see that sounds goddamn awesome, now I know what I'm going to prompt next time MGS does a kinkmeme.

Detective Conan/The Crow? WHAT? I need to know more!!!!

(Anonymous) 2011-07-31 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
This one pretty much came out of a train of thought that started as "What would it take to make Conan stop believing in 'justice' as a concept?" Turns out my brain isn't satisfied until the answer is "everyone, including the children, has been horribly murdered." Also, my interpretation of the Crow plotline is based entirely on the original comic book, as I've never gotten around to renting the movie, so make of that as you will.

So, the crossover goes like this: Black Organization kills everybody except maybe some of the cops because they can serve a narrative purpose. The core cast (the Mouris, the kids, Agasa and Haibara) are killed in front of Conan, while he is helpless to do anything about it. Worse things might happen to Ran, but if I actually wrote that out I would have to kill myself for being a horrible human being. The important thing is that everything Conan loves has just been brutally murdered, including innocents, and he knows that the police can do nothing: the Black Org. has done this before to others, and nothing ever comes of the investigation. (There's corruption higher up in the police force).

POV shift to Kaitou Kid, running around the rooftops being heist-planning and sneaky. Something that looks like Kudou Shinichi except a mime shows up, drops a menacing riddle, and disappears. Kaito doesn't know what the fuck, so he goes to Hakuba, who in the impeccable logic of crossovers, knows the Crow legend. They figure out the riddle, it's pretty much challenging them to root out the Black Org. before they're all dead. Plot ensues.

Why I'm never writing this? I don't want to do that to the characters, especially the Shonen Tantei. The world of the Crow is fundamentally broken in a lot of ways that make it an interesting story, but not one I want to force on these people.
