I know I'm going to sound entitled as shit here, but I get really frustrated when people "favourite" my fics and never leave reviews. Do you like the pairing? The plot? The sex? The dialogue?

IDK. I appreciate that people are bookmarking my fic to read again and adding it to their archive of favourites, but reviews and discussions are so lovely. It kind of bums me out.

Sometimes I don't comment because I loved some stuff but didn't like some other stuff in the fic, so IDK what to say. *shrugs*

Personally, I'm an older fan (early forties,) and I come from a really buttoned up family. I was raised to keep myself to myself, basically. I rarely leave comments on fic because I just feel...strange about it. Nothing I type looks right to me. If I try to express what I loved about the story, I am so embarrassed I start to turn red.

I force myself to leave feedback if no one else is commenting or if it's a very rare pairing or fandom and I'm dying for more. But it's a genuine struggle every time, and it never seems to get any easier.

I do feel sorry that it bums authors like you out. I wish I were less self-conscious, believe me. I don't know if you'll think this constitutes a good reason, but it's my reason, anyway.
