The show has really started to go downhill, I am so disappoint. It was never like, omg Emmy award winning, or anything like that, but it was fun. And refreshing because it was more about the mystery/friendships than romance.

But now it's all about the romance. And the mystery barely gets any attention aside from some ~twist~ tossed in at the end. The books are ridiculous too but at least they're consistent. They're also a LOT darker than the show.

Tbh I started to hate the show after they turned Toby into this sweet, innocent, perfect angel, when in the books Toby molested his stepsister and then killed himself out of guilt. That wasn't the only problem, but it was the start of all this fucking bullshit.

The worst part is that the writers/creators have no fucking clue how much they are ruining this show. They think everything they do is as amazing as fuck.

I just hate how it's so different from the books...it's all I can ever bring myself to care about with things like this. :/

I haven't watched the second season yet but reading this is disheartening. I have a nagging feeling that the focus on romance might be a response to Aria/Ezra fans (they were the worst part of the show for me.)

Sadly, Aria/Ezra is not the worst offender of this show. Hanna/Caleb and Spencer/Toby are MUCH more popular and those relationships pretty much dominate every. Single. Episode.

It's terrible, but seeing "Toby killed himself" just makes me immediately go, "OOH! I hope that happens!"

Agreed. A used pop up throughout the whole show, now it's only for the last 5 minutes.

I haven't read the books, so I can't really go into that. But I did think when Alison was first picking on Toby and said there was something going on between him and Jenna, that it would have been Toby who was abusing her, not the other way around and I never really changed my mind about that until the video.

Idk if it really makes sense for Toby being sent away and his parents not liking him and having to see the therapist this way. I don't understand why that would be the thing they choose to switch around.
