You know, you might actually be right!
Never thought of the shipping angle before, tbh. I just love his music/persona so much I forgot that squeeing over music alone can't keep a fan community alive. And sadly, it can't. :/

Srsly, an active fandom is a priceless resource for an artist/band/movie/you name it. And you have to admit that shipping is often what keeps the fics being written and the manips being made and is at the center of all the fandom interactions and creativity.
Some peeps in Hollywood and the music industry got that and bank on it.

Shame Patrick doesn't have that. I mean, all the moral issues concerning RPS aside, it's a shame he's not having that.

Eh, he does have a strong fandom in a sense, it's just not necessarily a fan community which makes fanworks, really. I mean, he does definitely have some rabid fangirls. And boys. I should know, I used to hang around with loads of them a few years ago.
