Well, after the first season of Heroes, I decided that future Hiro's real reason for traveling back in time was not to save Claire but to keep Peter and Mohinder from getting together. Putting Peter on a mission to find/save Claire would ultimately keep him from getting into a relationship that contributed to the apocalyptic future that was shown in Five Years Gone. Keep in mind this all stemmed from a frame in the String Theory graphic novel.
