How about something that would be a small investment, find an object or start a collection you know will go up in value over time? That way if you're ever in a pinch for money, you have something you can sell.

Not OP, but this is an awesome idea. I was in a similar situation and ended up buying gothic/lolita dresses and scalping them. They pretty much held their value.
