F!S Anon Meme (the Fifth)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

(LJ's still lagging here and there, good luck.)

So, does anyone else ever get into a show/movie/book/whatever just because the fandom seems really awesome and has good fic?

Cause I definitely only ever started watching Merlin after I read Drastically Redefining Protocol and some other epic fics. (of course, I stopped midway through season two because jfc until Arthur finds out about Merlin's magic I just cannot deal with that show).

This is how I find around 95% of my fandoms. (lol made up statistic ftw)

But then, I've a reputation among fandom friends as being someone who will jump head first into fanfic of a fandom I've never even heard of if it looks interesting, so...

Oh, god yes. Comes with the territory of having a completely insane love of crossovers.

Inception.

I liked the movie, but I didn't like the characters enough to really want to read/write fic on them.

But now. idek. I still don't write, but the fics are so pretty @@

Quite a few fandoms, actually. Merlin, Inception (really over that one now, though,) Eroica, Cabin Pressure, TSN - oh, and the Star Trek reboot. I was hip deep in that fandom months before I watched the movie (mostly because I knew that Quinto would make a godawful Spock.)

There probably are a few more I'm forgetting....

Usually I get into something because of fandom, not the other way around. This is why I don't get it when canon creators take offense at the idea of fanworks. It's free advertising!
