F!S Anon Meme (the Fifth)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

(LJ's still lagging here and there, good luck.)

I'm disappointed that the Rap Critic doesn't get more credit for being feminist. He's one of the few reviewers on TGWTG who doesn't set my sexist alarm going. I don't have to turn off my feminist side to enjoy. Plus, he's funny and cute and articulate and not unnecessarily vitriolic.

I do like the Nostalgia Critic, but he does tend to throw out the "slut" term quite often, which always makes me skeeved.

I haven't seen him use that word (nor I do care that much tbh), but my (small) problem with the Critic is that he's made his love for assertive women well known, even going as far as to say he'd like for the psychotic characters in Chicago to kill him. I love it when he rants on princesses and chickification and I know full well that Doug is lovely and hates gender roles, but I have this fear that there's quite a bit of kink in his feminism. Is that weird?

I'm disappointed the Rap Critic doesn't get more...anything, really, from the fandom. He's awesome!

I think it's because most people who frequent TGWTG aren't into rap music. Which is fine, until you consider that there are plenty of Linkara fans (including myself) who don't read comic books. So...IDK, really. He needs more love!

Hmm, I hadn't checked out the Rap Critic mostly because I don't like rap very much, but after hearing this I'll have to give him a listen. Thanks for the suggestion, anon!

(And yeah, I love some of the other reviewers, but some of them use really uncomfortable language. It makes me sad whenever it comes up.)

The Nostalgia Chick called Lupa a "slutbag" in the "Honor & Glory" review today. I know the character's meant to a bitter, bitchy, misandristic straw feminist, but seriously lady?

Eh, the Nostalgia Critic is a character, I don't know how much of what he says necessarily reflects his actual views, but most of it is pretty clearly exagerrated.

I have no doubt that the Critic is completely and utterly fictional, but Doug really likes calling himself a whore.

(Anonymous) 2011-08-01 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, I can't say I ever noticed that... though calling yourself a whore isn't really the same as calling someone else a whore.

Mostly in cons when he's flirting with people and letting both genders take pictures of his crotch. :P
