I never saw them as having more than a brother/sister type relationship when reading the books. And I think Ron/Hermione was obviously moving toward being the end couple from pretty much book 4 on if I remember correctly.

That said, I'm not a fan of Ron/Hermione and I do like the potential dynamics of Hermione/Harry. I think they steady each other and I love their friendship and the way they let each other be who they are even if they do approach life differently.
