Oh, anyone got the link to this artist's gallery? The watermark is so small, I can't decipher it... But damn, that's gorgeous.

Ron/Hermione were pretty obvious to me from the very beginning, but I hate Harry/Ginny with a fierce passion. I didn't mind it when she was a shy girl at first but then suddenly she became such a quean out of fucking nowhere in HBP, wtf?! So yeah, Hermione would have been perfect with Harry while she has more chemistry with Ron.

I really can't see Harry/Hermione (Ron/Hermione was so apparent to me in the books), but I'll take pretty much anything over Harry/Ginny. Usually Harry/Ron or Harry/Luna.

It's why I ignore the epilogue and stick with fandom.

Nah, Harry and Hermione never had the chemistry to become canon. They would have been boring as a couple but they are good as friends.

Ron and Hermione had all the chemistry. They were like an Old Married Couple from almost the beginning.

I don't mind the canon pairings but in all honesty, I think Jo had the future pairings in mind before she started writing and really exploring the characters. She always knew her endgame so that Harry could finally have his one, big happy family (Hermione even gets to become his sister! Of sorts), so that no matter how the characters developed throughout the series, no matter the chemistry between them, the endgame pairings could never change.

I'll be honest, I thought (didn't ship, but thought) Harry/Hermione until book four when Ron breaks his Crum action figure. But it was an, "oh, I guess that's the endpairing." :continues reading:

But seriously, Hermione was really good for Harry; supported him, balanced him, made him see things from a new perspective...but that doesn't mean it has to be romantic. Sometimes I wonder if these shippers have strong relationships with their siblings/friends of the opposite sex. You can have meaningful, dynamic, healthy relationships that have nothing to do with romance.

Im convinced most people who see Harry and Hermione as compatible romantically have just been beaten across the head with: "hero gets the girl who shares the most page/screen time" trope and refuse to see otherwise. One of the best things I feel JKR did with their friendship was make it so convincingly platonic and nothing close to romantic, but it seems some people refuse to accept guys and girls as simply best friends. It's sad. :/

Personally, by the end of the series, I was hoping for they'd all end up with nobody at all, and they could develop real relationships later after their lives had calmed down and gotten sane. Preferably all with random minor or original characters.

I was all right with the concept of anyone paired with anyone (or no one paired with no one, if the author chose to go that way), but Harry got all this facetime with the reader and Hermione got all this facetime with the reader and the two characters got all this facetime with each other and then in the end Harry got together with a character with whom he, and the reader, had spent very little time. This is where the H/Hr in me comes from.

Saying that it works that way in real life, saying that friends work that way in real life, is not an argument that holds water with me. This is a book. This is fiction, and narrative structure leads to expectations that feel disappointing if not fulfilled.

I thought Harry and Hermione wouldn't end up together because they were clearly interested in other people all throughout the series, simple as that. :] I mean, yeah, she deeply cared about him, and devoted a lot of her time saving and helping Harry, and vice versa, but even Harry admitted that he loved her like a sibling and she felt the same way about him; they didn't talk with each other for days after Ron left in Deathly Hallows.

When it came to romance between the trio, it was all about Ron and Hermione and how they affected one another. Hell, the romantic tension between them was so great that even the trio's friendship dynamic became really precarious whenever there was jealousy over who Ron and Hermione dated.

My dad was also extremely surprised by it, and had wanted Harry/Hermione, too. This is kind of hilarious to me since he's a chemistry teacher and he rarely gets into any fiction at all, so him not only being engrossed in Harry Potter, but shipping something in it cracks me up.

That said, I disagree. Ron and Hermione had excellent chemistry and I don't think Harry and Hermione would've worked. I'm not a big Harry/Ginny fan myself, I vastly prefer him with Luna, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad relationship. It was poorly developed, but they could work out I think.

i always saw harry and hermione as siblings. they both came from the muggle world unknowing anything that was magical and in my headcanon they supported each other through those times. granted, hermione had "hogwarts, a history" memorized, everything that she was experiencing was brand new, just like with harry.

i think that's why i like ron/hermione. they both come from different upbringings and them being together, they learned so much from one another.

but whatever, ship all you want.
