Nobody is yelling at OP for looking up to fictional characters (except maybe one up at the top). Assuming this is real OP made a dumb secret involving how their favorite fictional characters would think of them rather than reflect on how they can hopefully do the right thing next time. They're annoyed it was OP's first thought and seems to continue to be through the entire secret.

Yes, exactly. The OP is more concerned with keeping up appearances to people that don't exist rather than that their really stupid non-action has possibly caused a real person to be further assaulted or even killed. It's shallow and self-absorbed and repulsive.

And while anyone is allowed to look up to whatever fictional characters they want, that's not going to stop me from raising an eyebrow at their choice of idol. For someone kissing the ground fortunate enough to meet Dean Winchester's shoes, that eyebrow is raised particularly high.

1) There is no reason to believe that the woman in this secret is dead, or injured. Even if she is, it is in NO WAY the OP's fault. If a woman chooses to stay in an unsafe environment, that is regrettable, but it is not anyone else's responsibility to remove her. She is a grown up, and she can decide to remove herself from that environment if she chooses to. It's difficult, of course, but you know what isn't going to make it easier? Some snot-nosed kid who doesn't know her and doesn't know her situation coming along to tell her abusive bf that he's a real mean guy. The OP did not see her being hit, did not see the child getting hit, did not see the woman ask for help or attempt to remove herself from the situation. Only a self-righteous idiot would step in and try to intervene.

2) I dare you to call the NYPD and report an incident of loud yelling in the street. Seriously, do it. Please let us know how excited they were to deal with that call. I'm sure after they've finished dealing with the 400 non-violent crimes, 70 aggravated assaults, 60 muggings, 3 violent rapes and the murder or two they had reported that day they'll be thrilled to run over and tell that man it's impolite to yell in the street.

Jesus, dude, do us all a favor and take like 3 seconds to think before you vomit up the very first hateful words that come into your tiny mind.

When the guy is confessing to and bragging about multiple crimes out in the open and in front of witnesses? Yes, that shit is taken seriously. I have called the police on such an occasion, and they made the arrest right there while taking statements from everyone who witnessed his confession and subsequent gloating. But that's because I'm not a chickenshit and I'm willing to stand up to my "friends" when they're being douchebags.

If it wasn't OP's first thought it wouldn't have made it onto fandomsecrets. Nothing wrong with getting inspiration from fictional characters. JFC, how many I run to keep in shape just in case the Doctor comes for me secrets have we seen here? If OP is going to actually do something next time there's a problem then I dont care who their choice of inspiration is.

Except this isn't "inspiration." Nowhere in the secret does it say "Dam and Dean inspired me to be a better person." That would've at least made it not-cringeworthy. The OP is instead hand-wringing and being all "Sam and Dean would think I'm horrible!" It's the worrying what fictional characters think of you and not giving any indication you'd be a better person heaven forbid there's a next time that people find objectionable.

They could've still gotten it onto Fandom Secrets without being such a hand-wringing ninny. How many well-received "I did this dumb thing, and I'm sorry, and CI'll do the right thing next time because that's what Character X would do" secrets have we had? No, instead the OP keeps going with "I did this dumb thing, and I'm ashamed because Sam and Dean would think I'm horrible. I can't even meet the actors because I'm such a terrible person!" It's all wallowing in self-pity, which is annoying as fuck on its own without dragging a side of shallow white actor cock-worship into it.
