This, this, this. He's got a Fortress of Solitude, not a Fortress of Hanging Out With All My Buddies. Superman loving and cherishing humanity and being better than humanity without being of humanity is a constant theme in the character, I have no problem with playing it up for a while.

Though if they do have him go on and on and on about being lonely and misunderstood, that'll suck, I will definitely grant you that.

Considering Superman's origins are basically a metaphor for immigration as well, for coming from two worlds and loving both of them...well, I bristle at being told that if Kal wants to know more about his alien origins that makes him bad. Wanting to connect to both sides of your heritage doesn't mean you're abandoning one of them. Superman's still going to be a tireless fighter for what's good and right in the world, and being a man of two worlds doesn't mean he isn't going to care deeply about people.

So don't despair, OP! I don't blame you for being worried, but Superman's a flexible icon. He survived being written as a jackass who walked around the country telling off citizens for not being as heroic as him, he'll survive this.
