(Anonymous) 2011-08-05 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)Danny and the boys want to watch the Mickey Mouse Club because "little Annette's starting to grow knockers" (a line removed in later revivals and the kids' version of the script).
Danny's quit the track team, Patty gets angry and wants to talk to him, but sees that he's hooked up with the "floozy" Sandy and gets punched out by her. Sandy and Danny hook up, and everyone's all happy and goes off to celebrate "Anything Can Happen Day".
The Kingston Mines version restaged and revised at the American Theater Company is a bit more depressing, since they added an ending with a grown-up Patty telling us that a bunch of the kids have since died (with spotlights to mark the ones that've died: Danny, Sandy, Rizzo, Sonny, and Miller). I think the ending might have been revised since though, since they had to cut the roles of the grown-up versions of Jan, Roger, Doody, Kenickie, Frenchy, and Marty. The "Miller" character is a sixth greaser exclusive to the original production that had to be cut for Broadway and the movie, but he was called "Kenickie" in the Kingston Mines '71 premiere, while the boy we now know as Kenickie was named "Miller" then. They kind of merged the two for Broadway, gave Danny's friend the "Kenickie" name but gave him Miller's girlfriend, car, and personality. While the "Miller" in the current production is the actual original Kenickie, a nerdy kid into cartoons.
