FYI I dropped the wikipedia link because I'm SICK of typing it myself. And I don't care who came up with the concept or how soon it will be debunked (you can make that argument about anything in science btw. The earth is round until a future discovery proves it was an optical illusion,) because to me it sounds very true. But regardless of that, a fundamental rule is that you can't judge people for what they haven't done because you think they have the potential to do it. You can't accuse them of what they write, draw or think. It's the product of their mind. If we start building gallows for people who "imagine" things like child porn I ask you, where do we stop? Do we take people who write crime novels to court because they incite murder? Do we ban boxing because people who participate in it have an incentive to punch someone to death?

That is some serious hyperbole.

But anyway, you pretty much restated my entire point right here: "you can make that argument about anything in science btw". So basically, yes, that's what I meant. Calling upon one psychological concept does not actually end the discussion, no matter how much you want it to.

Oh, and just a fun fact: boxing is banned in some places, exactly because people get punched to death.
