I've heard of that one. Haven't seen it as much though. It's another one of those classic fanfic sex sentences I guess.

I think it's more an angst line, usually something traumatic happens and, during the reaction, the main character will suddenly "breathe" drmatically

Hmm, I've never thought of it in relation to angst fic. I always see it in porn where it's used in a "damn, you're so hot that I forgot to breathe!" kind of way. But that's probably only because I read a lot more porn than angst, lol.

Not just in sex scenes, actually. I've seen it used in a number of situations in fic. It's pretty irritating.
