I'm a Giants non-bandwagon fan, and I'll be honest, I got pretty dispirited after 2002 (I was 12. I cried for hours and hours). But they're still fun to follow. I still enjoy baseball, even if the Giants aren't winning, and it just makes it that much more fun when they finally do. I guess its a question of what a fan should be, or something - but to me the pain and disappointment is just part of being a fan.

But hey, whatever floats your boat, I'm not judging. Always nice to see a Giants fan, fun secret to see, shout-out to the McCoven.

I grew up in SF, going with my dad every other week to games and having a blast. I don't care how well they are doing or what crap is going on: Giants FTW!

This is how I feel about the Astros. I mean like, completely unrelated, different team and whatnot. But they WERE good there for a while. Now they're back to being a joke and the players I grew up watching have retired/the younger ones that played with them have been traded away to unsuccessfully 'redeem the team.' So I don't keep up with them (especially after trading away Hunter Pence, SO FURIOUS) now that I'm living out in California, but I'd be happy to make the effort to try and keep up with them from 1550 miles away if they ever actually did anything besides disappoint me.

I've tried getting into the Angels, but it's just not the same. Oh home team. You suck and vex me so, but I will always support you, even if it seems like I don't always care. I just have to be realistic about things.

Same here. I mean, I kind of do, since it seems that how well the Mets are doing is the same as how healthy José Reyes is, and admittedly I do care a little less if he's not there since he's my favorite player. However, I still can't make myself completely not be involved. :(

But... it's just not the same as it was in 2000/2001 when I loved ALL of them with all my soul. Plus Citifield sucks ass. :(

You're fairweather actually. And I kind think it's a disappointment because when you go through our teams ups and down (and it's not like the Giants had completely suck in the last 10 years). But then again, I am a Yankees fan although the inbetween years were frustrating as fuck (and experience the utter heartbreak of the 2004 ALCS with our main rival, which I cried for a few hours after the game and the whole disaster that was 2008 and Mussina never getting a ring). 2009 will always be special because I was unemployed for 90% of the season and got to watch 152-5 games plus postseason and partied my ass off in the ticket parade.

On the other hand, I am also a Knicks fan so... but I couldn't quit them during the Isiah years. Too much love for that team.

But every failure will only make that win all the more sweeter.

The thing about the Giants - and this is why the WS last year was so special for a lot of people - is that even when the Giants were good, they were incredibly disappointing and painful to watch. Never won a World Series since coming to San Francisco in the 50s, had heartbreak after heartbreak - from McCovey's line drive in 62 to the meltdown in 2002. So uh yeah, even when they were good within the last ten years, they were still painful to follow. And I don't mean to complain because they WERE a good team and after all they did just win a World Series. But yeah, you gotta go through the bad to enjoy the godo.

I was a Giants fan growing up, which was weird because I grew up in the East Bay. Eventually my antipathy for what the Giants stood for in the early 2000s and my love for the scrappy underdog made me finally become what I was always meant to be: an A's fan. LET'S GO OAKLAND! And I don't care how much they suck. :P
