I think "manning up" and learning to handle things that trigger you in a way that is effective is something that is vastly underrated. The world doesn't stop doing things just because it triggers some people, eventually, people have to learn to deal with their triggers in whatever was is necessary for them.

I don't think you're insensitive at all.

THIS. I have a huge vomit phobia and have had for many years, but a scene like that, while it would squick me, wouldn't trigger me in the sense of causing panic or distress, because I eventually worked out I would never be able to avoid it totally, so some stuff I better just get used to.

vomit phobia ≠ eating disorder though...
If someone has a history of bulimia/self-induced vomiting, a scene like that could easily bring back old compulsions even if the person thinks they've dealt with the issue and won't be triggered.

I hate to say it, but I agree with this. Having a trigger is a horrible thing, and it is something that a person should get help for. But it seems (and maybe I'm wrong in this) that many people on Livejournal in particular make no effort to get this help, and continue being triggered by things that quite frankly can be helped.
