It's great that you're working on getting over it.

People aren't carbon copies, though. Saying the word "trigger" in quotations and telling people to "man up" is basically treating these people like it's their fault for having triggers, and how dare they inconvenience others by noting "hey this sets off really bad feelings and if there's a way to avoid that it would very appreciate kthnx".

A problem that I've seen with a lot of people who claim to need trigger warnings, though, is that they're not making that effort. I ask them quite often if they're actively trying to find a method that works for them in terms of helping themselves to control the afteraffects of being triggered, seeing a professional, in any way progressively working on making their life easier. Many of them have admitted, that no, they aren't trying to improve their quality of life. Instead they're just sitting around getting triggered and searching out people they can yell at for not putting a trigger warning. If they're not willing to put out effort to help themselves, how can they expect people to always be accommodating to their trigger?

Before anybody tries to pull "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE" I have an EDNOS and a phobic panic disorder.

I'm not saying that there aren't people like that. However, I feel it's better to err on the side of caution, and give them the benefit of the doubt, rather than assume they're being triggered because, for lack of a better term, they aren't "trying hard enough" to get better.

Keep in mind that not everyone can afford therapy; even if they can, they simply might need more time to heal before they can open up to a therapist.

Oh, I know, but there is more to helping yourself than seeing a professional. It's not about money or accessibility, it's about effort. Even if they're still consciously healing from something, that's still effort.
