My thoughts exactly when it comes to triggers. I really think that if someone gets life ruiningly upset when others even mention the trigger topicn and show it in action or show different views on it they need to get help with their issues more than other people need to just ignore it and stop talking about it.

I am a rape victim. Nothing in this world will ever make that go away or make what happened to me go away. But if I let myself continually be affected by others' insensitivities and was reduced to tears any time some idiot remarked that he RAPED HARD AT A VIDEOGAME I would be crying nonstop. You can't control other people and just because you and I have the good sense not to joke about rape doesn't mean others won't. Those jokes are not OK and are not defencible however I really think that people underestimate the value of learning to put the past behind them and learning to be strong for themselves and others. Learning to accept what happened to you doesn't mean it's OK what happened but it does allow you to get on with your life.

There's nothing wrong with being upset when you're reminded of past events that were terrible but you can't blame others for it. I choke up when I see rape scenes in films and TV shows and in books. I avoid fanfix that contain non-consensual things. But to say that those scenes shouldn't have been filmed - which is what I see a lot in capslock trigger rage posts - is wrong.
