Did it bug anyone else how lightly the Dursleys got off in the books? Like, they mentally and emotionally abused a child from age 1 till age 11 and even after and Dumbledore is just sort of "Damn you guys are dicks".

Dude, this. I couldn't believe how they hardly got a verbal slap on the wrist for how they (and especially Aunt Marge) treated Harry :/

A lot of people get abused as kids and their abusers are never found out or punished.

True. But for me it seemed that they were forgotten because they weren't magic. All the wizards and witches that hurt Harry in some way all died or at least got some retribution. The Dursley's got nothing more than a half-hearted speech when they were the ones that did the most damage to Harry.

What squicked me out the most is that Dumbledore knew exactly how the Dursley's were treating Harry and didn't seem to give a shit. I think he even referenced Harry's life under the stairs a few times in the books, and weirdly enough Harry didn't call him out on it. I would have been all "What the fuck? You knew I was being treated like shit and you didn't do anything?! Fuck you, man. Fuck you!"

I believe Dumbledore once said something like that thanks to it Harry grow up into sorta normal able to love guy, not a spoiled fat brat like Dudley

Which is bullshit, because the spectrum of child care is more nuanced than "spoiled brat" and "abused dirty secret." And sure, how each kid turns out varies, but generally one would expect Harry to come out with some emotional issues ingrained in his psyche. I mean, we're talking about a kid who, first the first decade of his life, did not apparently ever receive anything resembling love (that he can remember). That's not a normal-causing situation.

What, exactly, was Dumbledore supposed to do? The blood magic was necessary to protect Harry. He had no other blood relatives. So he had to stay at the Dursleys. Yes, I wish he had expressed some sympathy, but it wasn't like he could put Harry somewhere else.
