...I'm wondering if this is kind of like the secret the other day that said people were calling Kaede a whore, and when someone linked to "an example", the comment where the word "whore" was used was really obviously neither serious or malicious.

(Not saying it's an appropriate insult to be used towards a ten year old girl, or in fact anyone, but still.)

It's kind of a loaded term to throw around, and it's a particularly loaded term to throw around when referring to a nine-year-old. You can't really blame people for getting upset about it, even if it's "just a joke." I'm not even in the fandom and I'd feel awfully skeeved out.
