People keep talking about how everyone despises Barnaby, but I honestly haven't seen that much hate for him. Am I just hanging out in the wrong (or right, more likely) places?

MTE. I also agree with the above commenter that most of what I've seen is comments like "I love all the heroes" and just not much Barnaby hate.
I saw a few "I don't like this new yandere Barnaby" comments after the timeskip and things like that but I really can't call that bashing. Also what I've seen is people complaining about the bashing. But not the actual bashing itself.

Mostly what I've seen is people making valid criticism of some of the things he does and says, cognizant of the fact that his upbringing and backstory is really really screwy and so it's no wonder that sometimes he comes off as a jerk, and mostly they feel sorry for him.

And then I've seen other people brush in and start acting like noooo everything he does is totally sensible and justified and how dare you criticize him, you're just a blind Kotetsu fan who thinks he can do no wrong.

Personally, I like these characters, including both Barnaby and Kotetsu, because all of them are realistically imperfect and frequently do and say stupid/rude/self-absorbed things. I can still identify when they're being stupid/rude/self-absorbed without hating them.

We just had polls at the T&B comm that suggest Bunny's the second most popular character, right? It did surprise me a little, but I guess the haters are just really vocal.

As for Karina, she's like...my least favorite, but I definitely don't hate her, and I don't think I've run into any bashing of her - Then again I wasn't really in the fandom yet when the episodes that are more focused on her came out.

Okay, I'm usually pretty thrilled to see any T&B secret, but this one kind of makes me roll my eyes. I do not honestly think you will get jumped on for publicly saying Barnaby is your favorite.
From the tone and wording of this secret, I'm more getting the impression that you're upset that somebody disagreed with you when you complained that Kotetsu was being mean to Barnaby, not that you actually get shit for liking Barnaby more than Kotetsu.

Not OP, but I'd it's pretty clear what the OP is upset about, since it says right there in the secret. Using sexist/misogynistic language to refer to a character is just never cool, regardless of whether one person likes and the other dislikes said character.

Agreeing with those above that I haven't run into any Barnaby hate...or hate for any T&B character, really. Character-bashing is irritating, though, and the use of sexist and derogatory terms is just classless.

I have a hard time understanding why people would ardently dislike Barnaby, actually. He can be a douche, and I can definitely understand why he wouldn't be someone's favorite, but I think he's interesting and has his good moments. It's hard to hate a character with redeeming qualities.

Agreeing with what everyone else has said here. i haven't seen any hate for Barnaby or the people who like him best out of the cast. He certainly isn't my favorite. I much prefer Kotetsu. But I certainly don't hate Barnaby. I liked him best during the time he thought he'd finally avenged his parents death and was happy and friendly and agreeable. I do seem to be the only person who liked him better during that period, but oh well. I can handle having a unique opinion.

Ignoring what people are saying, arguing if Barnaby is hated or not, this is a peeve of mine in general.

If you use language that degrades women when bashing a male character, then you're policing gender, and yeah, it is totally sexist and skeevy.

I agree, and I wonder about the people above saying they haven't seen much hate for Barnaby. For me, he LJ comm's reactions to episode 19 was pretty much the straw that broke the camel's back as far as the T&B LJ fandom is concerned. (He totally deserved that slap! He was being a selfish douchebag who doesn't appreciate all that Kotetsu has done for him! And how dare he hurt poor Kotetsu's feelings! Meanwhile, Kotetsu is a saint and he can do no wrong. I like Kotetsu, too, but ffs, seriously.)

yeah, I don't see a lot of "hate" of Barnaby. Or Blue Rose either, for that matter-- not even on yaoi forums, where you'd think they'd rip her apart for her crush on Kotetsu.

I've come across some Bunny bashing (don't ask me where, too lazy to look it up... and yes it's been in both LJ and 4chan), but it isn't really that much. However, pretty sure all characters are loved in general, which is one of the great things about T&B.

also, I'm with you OP, Bunny is my absolute fave. I'll never be afraid to say it, and you shouldn't, either.

I don't like him because he doesn't really try to care about other peoples' problems. He's also pretty boring and I hate how he dresses. That said, this isn't a huge bearing Barnaby as a whole. Series isn't over so he still has room to grow.

Blue Rose, like most of the other heroes, is just underused. We don't see her much nowadays either.

...I'm wondering if this is kind of like the secret the other day that said people were calling Kaede a whore, and when someone linked to "an example", the comment where the word "whore" was used was really obviously neither serious or malicious.

(Not saying it's an appropriate insult to be used towards a ten year old girl, or in fact anyone, but still.)

Not really in Tiger & Bunny fandom, but I do watch the show and while I agree 100% that character bashing is dumb and that it becomes gross when misogynistic language and gender-policing are used to bash, I also find it kinda cute that Kotetsu is the more popular of the two. I mean, I have nothing against him, but Barnaby always came across as a typical man-pained antihero, which is usually the character trope that is most popular.

I don't call him a "girl" or a "pussy", I just call him boring. But that's not bashing. Bashing would be "I wish someone would rape him up the ass with a rusty knife and leave him to bleed to death, I hate him!!!". Me saying I thing he's a boring characters and that I would prefer to see more of Kotetsu's issues rather than going back to MY PARENTS ARE DEEEAAAD is just stating an opinion.
