*dies* Different people, different lives. I'm kind of a robot, I don't really have much in the way of emotion to begin with, and I've never been really close with them. Maybe if I had been, it'd be different, but it's not.

I know some people whose parents DO hate them and like, tell them that they're mistakes and worthless all the time, and surprisingly enough a lot of them are like "... yeah whatever."

In that case, then it's abuse and the child is using a defense mechanism. It's not healthy or normal by any means to hate your child.

Defense mechanisms that prevent angst and woe and feeling sorry for yourself and a whole bunch of negative emotions, I'm all for it if they can keep it up!

But seriously, your parents have never been all, you're worthless/never good enough/etc? Out of curiosity, are you asian? 'Cause if you are, you got LUCKY with parents. *dies*

Only it's not a good thing. Often times it stops you from forming worthwhile relationships because your bond with your parents so so profoundly important in all your relationships.

I think it might be because I'm not in the same culture as you - I have some knowledge about how chinese-american's are raised and how it's different than from how I am. I can see how that would affect someone.

(uhhh yeah and by minority I meant like, close-knit-families vs distant-families, I have no idea what the statistics are like with that, just that most of the people I know (from a lot of different countries and cultures actually, go confusing double parentheses) tend to fall into the latter category)

There is a difference between feeling terrible and leaving gaping holes of despair because someone you love hates you.

I am baffled that you apparently care so little about your bonds that you would flip off your parents or not even bother to do that if they hated you. I feel bad that you're parents think you're not good enough. I feel bad that you think of yourself as a 75% of a robot.

I feel bad for you.

You could be happy and have a wonderful life and maybe the secret to life is not giving a damn.
