I kind of feel this way about Subaru and Seishirou circa Tokyo Babylon, but apparently their love is so ~epic and kawaii~ that it transcends the creepiness. well, until volume 7, I guess.

...wat. I can assure you that no shipper in their right mind thinks their relationship is ~epic and kawaii~. It doesn't need to transcend creepiness because the reason it's so attractive is because it's creepy and tragic.

I've seen a bunch of S/S fangirls basically acting as enthusiastic as Hokuto about the pairing. "SUBBY-CHAN IS SO KAWAII WHEN HE'S DEPRESSED, AWWWW HE JUST MISSES HIS SEI-KUN~"

like, wtf. I love them because they're as messed up as it gets. I really don't see anything cute about it.

Haha, I guess you're right. I left the fandom in 2005 so my memory might be hazy. But ugh, missing the point by that much makes me feel sick.

Yeah, it's not the same at all. Mostly because Sei/Sub never claims to be healthy. It's an abusive as fuck relationship. CLAMP has even come out and said that it's fucked up beyond reason. Most adult fans recognize this and likes them because of it, rather than than inspite the inheritant abuse.

I honestly look at Tokyo Babylon as one of the best horror stories I've ever read and a lot of that has to do with Subaru/Seishirou, their relationship, and what eventually happens to Hokuto.

In that context, the relationship totally works. I think the fangirls tend to miss the point.

no, not until volume 7. it remains ~epic and tragic~ all the way through X, so much so that it seems like 3/4 of the goddamn fandom thinks the series is "The Seishirou and Subaru Show II" or something. siiiiiigh

yeah, as much as I love the two of them, I really wish the fandom would pay attention to, you know, EVERYTHING ELSE going on in X. I realize Kusanagi, Satsuki, Karen, etc. are not ~gay bishies~ and so no one cares, but it's irritating.

let alone if you happen to ship, I don't know, Fuuma/Seishirou or Subaru/Kamui, HOW DARE YOU RUIN THEIR PERFECT LOVE

I knoooooooow. I love both (all three) of those pairings (and Sorashi, goddammit why is there not more Sorashi OH THAT'S RIGHT THEY'RE STRAIGHT -- just like with Kamui/Kotori [the whole dead thing aside], who he ~clearly~ loves less than Fuuma despite being more receptive to her affectionate overtures... but I digress)

...but Seishirou/Kamui is my (admittedly somewhat cracky) OTP.
