Rowling hates Slytherin, always has and always will. And Harry's words in the epilogue reminds me of the last lines in "Justine". Yeah, very convincing. I totally believe you.

Funny how a multimillionaire author has such a hate-on for people with ambition.

(Anonymous) 2011-08-20 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
You don't need to be ambitious to be a millionaire.

(Anonymous) 2011-08-20 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, you could be born into the money, or even win the lottery after someone else has given you a ticket, but for anything that requires actual work you need ambition. This is because hard work is driven by a desire to be something more, to rise above the rest. Y'know ambition.

I love you. That's the most bewildering thing: were you not the single mother on the dole writing a fantasy story out by hand in a cafe? And you seem to be terrible suspicious of ambition?

WHAT. IS. EVEN. HAPPENING?

(Anonymous) 2011-08-20 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Slytherin wouldn't exist without Rowling, you dumb fuck, and you're not in it, no matter what the internet sorting quizzes say. You're not a squib or a muggle either, you're just a disgruntled, irrational reader, with delusions of affiliation with a fictional concept.

(Anonymous) 2011-08-20 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't want to be Sorted in Slytherin, asshole. Ravenclaw FTW.

And if you don't understand that some authors hate some of their characters because they represent something horrible in their minds, if you get to meet Rowling tell her that you love Lockhart and watch her reaction.

(Anonymous) 2011-08-20 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
And note how the Slytherin girls are horrible brutes too.
Like that little racist twit Pansy, based off of every girl that was horrible to Rowling in school. We don't find out what happened to her because Rowling had no sympathy for such a type of character at all, which is naturally understandable. Because, who would sympathize for any of the girls who bullied you horribly in school?

Are you really so bored that you have to sit around waiting to stalk every thread about Harry Potter ever? Just so you can yell at all of the fans about being "delusional"? On a site dedicated to fandom?

The anon doth protest too much, methinks.

Wait, as in "Justine ou les Malheurs de la Vertu"? Because if it's this one, I totally agree with you (reading the last paragraph almost made up for having to read the previous 400 pages. It was like a giant "see what I did there?? That's called lying through my teeth to make you believe this book is something more than wank material for my boring days in prison" from Sade to the readers).

I would have never thought Sade could be brought in a convo about HP though. It makes me weirdly happy.

I've never read Justine but this comment makes me really want to. I never knew De Sade was such an epic troll!

[identity profile] nachekana.livejournal.com 2011-08-20 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'd actually feel bad if you went and read the book just because of my comment! See, the ending made me laugh but before getting there, you have to go through 400 pages of rape and torture. And I really mean loooooooooooong descriptions of rape and torture.

I read about the first 100 pages normally and then I just skipped most of the book (seriously, I was commenting to my sister while going through the book and it went a bit like that : "Justine escaped/is freed. Ah, she got kidnapped again. Ah, she's being raped/tortured/witnessing other people getting raped/tortured. Ah, she just escaped. Wait, she got kidnapped again...."). And in between those long descriptions, you have a few "philosophical" conversations, on lovely subjects like "why sodomy is better than "classic" sex" or "why a man can rape and kill his children".

Uh, presented like that, it almost sounds like a funny book... :P
