As much as I love a lot of the charcters in these books (and that GRRM's world has it accepted to marry your siblings - at least in some cases) I'm just bothered by the twin thing. As a twin who loves the fantasy genre I just really want a book/series that doesn't have them or doesn't use them as some kind of trope.

I'm pretty sure Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy doesn't have twins. Tamora Pierce's (I know it's a kiddie series) has a heavy twin theme but there's no twin telepathy or super strong ties, or anything, just different gendered siblings who look a lot alike.

God, that has to suck for you, having to read that. The world is very fascinated by twins- and twincest.

Really? This is one of the first fantasy series I have read with twins as important characters in it. Maybe you just had bad luck?
How about the Sabriel Trilogy or Trudi Canavan's Black Magician Trilogy? All twin free and very great reads imo.

The Mistborn trilogy is a great series too! Don't think there's any twins that I recall.
