I'm guilty of most of the things you listed, but I actually agree with you to an extent. I mean, yeah, we are a bunch of nerds, and that's okay. Dedicating some time to our nerdy hobbies is also okay.

But the thing is, many people (including myself) are so obsessive that we dedicate WAY too much time and thought to our hobbies. We are distracting ourselves from reality. We could be doing some constructive, like exercising or studying or cleaning or volunteering or spending time with our loved ones.

It really is time we stopped being so defensive and realized this. Being judgmental of others isn't the answer either, though. We must all make our own choices.
