It's because we have lives that we feel the need to do that. Because, see, everyone needs an escape from the droll and dreary that encompasses their daily lives. Some people drink. Others do drugs. Still others eat take-out Chinese and have long, involved dates with Ben & Jerry to terrible infomercials before bed. And some of us lose ourselves in fandom things, in fandom reading and writing, because that's what helps us unwind best.

We all have our vices, each as worthy as the last. Clearly, you understand that, since you actually know of this community and took the time to make this secret.

So go ahead and indulge, OP, and drop that self-loathing; life's too short for it, all things considered. We're all dying, so we might as well make the most of it in the meantime.
