Those movies have improved their cinematography greatly as they've progressed and yes, that scene was very well done.

I go to the films at midnight to mock with my friend, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a scene well done.

I love that the hallucinations Bella NEEDS SO BADLY TO HAVE are about Edward calling her a moron.

That pretty much sums up exactly what is wrong with these movies.

...she actually wasn't trying to drown herself. She was just cliff diving and the current was stronger than she thought. She was thrill-seeking to induce an Edward hallucination, not attempting suicide.

That said, what she was actually attempting to do in that scene is not healthy either.

Oh, I'm sorry, she was just engaging in ridiculously risky acts in order to hallucinate visions of Edward.

I've seen the movie. If someone, IRL, did was she did, everyone would consider them suicidal. What she was doing was not healthy in any way.

Reckless behavior with no regard for your own life is a symptom of being suicidal, so it could be argued that she was trying to kill herself. Or at least part of her wanted to.

I think OP means the way it was shot is beautiful. Not the actual context of the scene.

idk, the context makes the "beauty" of it rather...disconcerting. Like they're trying to glorify Bella's exceedingly dangerous mental issues.

...Oh wait, the books do that, too. Carry on.

I'm not saying her reasoning is good, or that the series is good; I just like the way they tried to artistically represent the way she was feeling and the mood of the book.

The entire Twilight series is honestly written like a bad fanfic and I get that, but I still appreciate the thought that went into the movies.

Probably because neither of them are talking and Kristin Stewert isn't blinking a million times per second. :P

it also requires no acting on kstew's part, as she already looks half-dead irl.

I agree OP, I thought it was a CINEMATICALLY beautiful scene as well, despite my hatred of Edward/Bella, though I think that the MUSIC used in this scene is what really makes it, it was one of my favorite songs on the (very good) soundtrack...I'm a sucker for good music!

This entirely. I hate the books, hate the movies, hate the story, but visually, I do think that the movies are rather appealing, if one ignores the context of it.

Also agree with you on the music.

Who cares? Breaking Dawn is coming up and I am so willing to pay to see that birth scene.

That scene is the only thing that made me agree to go with my my Twihard mother.

I haven't seen the movies, but from what I've heard from reviewers it seems like the people doing the cinematography and things like that are obviously trying hard. So no judgment!

I thought so too. All the movies seem to have one very pretty moment to me, like the prom scene in the first movie.

I loved this song and nearly put it on a mixtape for a boy I liked before realizing it was from Twilight. :/ I feel yer pain, but it's a fantastic song and the cinematography really knocks your breath away. (Had to watch it after the realization, haha). No but really, Grizzly Bears is the shit. Try Yellow Houses.
