lol what? It's been awhile since I read them, but as I recall, he CONSTANTLY ditches Mary to solve mysteries with Holmes, then he casually says she died sometime in those years when Holmes was faking his death, then mentions having a wife again without ever really going in to it. He was married, sure, but I'd hardly say very happily.

Considering that he speaks of her (Mary Morstan) lovingly, and misses her after she's gone, yep, that qualifies as happily.

Not too sure what (if) ACD was thinking on the follow-through...tho' you would probably like His Last Bow, p4p.
