I'm an avid roleplayer, but I think doing stupid *actions* randomly in non-rp conversations is annoying as fuck

Really? It was the big thing to do way back when I was a roleplayer (haven't done it in something like six years) and I figured that it was still common as I see it pop up in some of my friend's roleplaying groups that she's showed me, but then again, I can definitely see how it'd get irritating. I know it took me ages to stop typing like that when I quit doing RP.

Well, what I mean is, when you're actually roleplaying I think it's fine, but I just think it's.. silly? pointless? to *action* when you're not actually roleplaying and just having a normal conversation.

True. It does seem rather silly in retrospect, but that's what I and my roleplaying buddies used to chat with one another, both in and out of roleplay. Back then I honestly thought everyone typed that way, and it doesn't seem strange to me to see it floating around.
