What?? That's like, what kind of idiot spends money on food they've never tried before, or a game they've never played before, or a trip to somewhere they've never been before? I like to have books, so I buy them. If I don't like them, I can give them away, but if I do, why go through the bother of tracking down free copies, reading them, and then buying them in case you want to re-read them in a year or two?

I think they're refering to the BOX set specifically. Most people would at least try the first book of a series before splurging on an entire box set.

After squinting at the picture for a bit, I think it's a novelization of 'The Vampire Diaries,' but I'm not sure.

They existed before Twilight. They were just re-vamped after the CW show aired.

No, those are 'The Vampire Diaries' and were def around before Twilight. I remember looking at the first book in that series when I was in high school and not being impressed. They probably redid the covers to resemble 'Twilight' though since they want to say 'hey similar buy these too'

e-book sample or library next time? It's how I'm slowly making my way through the sookie stackhouse series. Books are popular right now and often have to put hold on one, but they come in eventually and I don't have to pay for them.

It's pissing me off how many books published before "Twilight" are redesigning their covers to look like the series--and I'm talking books by Austin and the Brontes. I guess I can see why they're going it, but it still annoys me.

...anon, you need to find a decent second-hand bookshop. Or start shopping on amazon marketplace. Those books have been around for years; buying them new and shiny and overpriced is ridiculous.

Wasn't my favorite series by her. Personally I dug the dark psychics one. But that could be nostalgia talking. I don't dare read them again and realize they actually suck.

Dark Visions. :) I enjoyed the series, but not the ending. It was too... happy, for lack of a better word. Everything tidied up soooo nicely and it just annoyed me. My favorite trilogy was The Forbidden Game. :D

i know they're cheesy, honestly, but they were my favorites in my early teens :P I got into the show out of nostalgia for the books it was based on. I'd buy the boxed set, even if i never read it again, just cause of how much it meant to me when i was a kid :P

I loved them too. Although I couldn't get in to the show. Have you read the new books in the series. I'm not sure if there is three or four, but supposedly they are really weird and don't go with the first four books. Like, apparently a fox demon shows up or something.

There is actually an edition of Wuthering Heights with a Twilight-style cover. It's pretty terrifying.
