I think the fandom will be more active in terms of producing/paying attention to fics and stuff when the series is over and we're all waiting for the new season/movie/OVA and we have time to kind of process everything and explore a bit. I see a LOT of fanworks for this series, though, and the LJ comm seems very active.

Oh man, I hope you're right. I'm sorta terrified that it'll be like so many other Western anime fandoms -- once the series is finished, the fandom just goes poof.

Usually I'd be worried about that, too, but I don't think it's finished by a long shot and we're going to be getting more material for a while _{just please don't fuck it up, Sunrise}. That and even after it is all over, it feels like the kind of thing that might have some staying power.

That's what I'm concerned about too. I've seen many anime fandoms die quickly once the series is over.

It's the main reason why I hope that Season 2 is announced even though Sunrise has a bad track record when it comes to second seasons. I love this fandom too much to have it end so soon.
