(Anonymous) 2011-09-14 10:25 am (UTC)(link)In my experience, outside of the dysfunctional, derpy "STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE" mentality some shut-ins of fandom can have, most people do not give that much of a shit about musical taste.
Especially when you already have some musical common ground with that person.
My two favorite genres are German metal and stuff like Passion Pit/MGMT, etc. Those two fandoms do not mix really but I've never had one from one side judge me for liking the other.
In fact, my group has had people come out and admit liking Insane Clown Posse and while we all gave them a tiny bit of shit for it, we didn't like.. ostracize them or anything like that.
