I was in complete agreement with you until the last sentence. You don't have to belittle something else in order to make your favored thing look better, truly you don't. And it is quite possible to enjoy all of these things.

I love Classical films and cartoons. Don't see why you have to drive a wedge between them, really.

This. There were bad classic films (and good video games, cartoons etc). The reason why we don't see as many classic films that are bad is because if they're that old, they're not going to bring the mediocre or bad ones back!
