I honestly don't think the majority of fangirls have the attention span or the desire to watch something that's not modern and easy to get into. I don't even care if that sounds elitist. it's easier to watch something like Transformers, a movie that's been calculated by marketers/producers to appeal to the widest possible amount of people, than to sit down and watch, I don't know, The Wild Bunch, something that's filmed and written differently and might require some thought.

on top of that, you have the fangirl attitude where if the actors aren't hot and potentially slashable, it's not even worth thinking about. yeah, I'm bitter.

But yeah. I'm a bit bitter too. I grew up on Old Hollywood movies and I would rather watch them over most modern movies.

Why be bitter? Classic films don't lend themselves to the kind of fandom modern media tends to engender. Hell, not that many contemporary films do, and I can't really imagine it panning out either. It's just not the same kind of enjoyment. At the same time there are plenty classics enthusiasts online; just find a community and join in. Discussion, graphics... I've seen it all.
