You have your views, I have mine. I agree that lables shouldn't be used to polarize people, though they are, but your bothersome labels might be someone elses saving grace.

As for the last bit... I thought those already had labels? Polyamorous and monogomous. (sp?) So, if there are already lables, why create more? I agree with this. But for when there are no labels? What then?

Well, monogamy is mostly about behavior. I'm monogamous, despite the inherent ability of not being. But I'm sure I heard other labels before. Anyway, I don't care, that's the point - as I don't believe that defines anything of importance about you as a person.

Well the more you keep telling them that, the more it won't. If you're going on the assumption that every little quirk in human attraction needs a different label, people will assume they need to find a label that fits them. That's sort of how it works.

Eh, no one ever told me anything, I just grew up that way needing labels for everything. (Seriously, my favorites bar on my computer is labeled and sublabeled, my notes have sections and sebsections, etc.) stuff like that just make me, me. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. And if people want to make every quirk of theres a label, fine, whatever.

The thing with demisexuality, though, is that enough people found themselves in a point where neither sexual nor asexual quite fit them. It's a place in between the points where demisexual comes in,a midway point.

People don't have to use labels if they don't want to, but when they exist, and when enough people use it to make it relevant... Then it is relevant.

I'm giving up. For some reason, you are deeply invested in this issue without seeing how some labels are not o,ly useless but also problematic. I'd tell you to read the last post by the anon you're discussing with right above here. Their stament makes a lot of sense.

I have no issue with you and I'm glad you enjoy my comments. I just think that in this case you are failing to see what some people here are trying to convey. I am tired, and I don't think I can phrase it in a way that will make more sense at this point. I am retiring before babble and nonsense starts coming out.

Admittedly, this was not the most stellar comment I've ever made, sorry. -_-;;

One good thing about labels (hopefully self-identified ones) is tha it can allow a person who uses that label to find other people with similar thoughts, feelings and ideas, thus feeling like they are not alone. However, when there isn't even the idea of a way to find other people, it can be easy to feel alone, and isolated.

Does that make any sense? (-_-);;

Yep, it makes sense. And I agree.

I also think labels can serve a purpose politically/in term of visibility.
I think there there are pros and cons to sexuality labels.

I was just pointing out that we could go on without them.

We couldmaybe as a society, I agree. But on an individual level, I'm not so sure. After all, individuals are all different.
