There are at least two MAJOR tv series from China (major as in 80+ episode live-action monsters), numerous games (Jap/Chinese/Korean), numerous animated series and parodies (Jap/Chinese), at least one manwa iirc.

The fandom might be obscure here, but it's a REALLY BIG THING on the otherside of the world =P

(I don't know how much of it is available in English though...)

Addenum:
Just hopped over to the Baidu article on Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It listed:
1. 6 live-action TV series from China and Taiwan
2. 5 Movies
3. 7 Anime series
4. 15 Games (single player)
5. 9 Multiplayer Online games (MMOs I think)

42 derivative works.

You should be able to find Red Cliff in Eng, if nothing else shows up in search. Maybe even subs of the 2010 tv series, but the 1994 series might be difficult to get good subs for.

...But history isn't completely objective? As the cliche goes, history is written by the winners, and the winners are rarely objective [for that matter, same for the first sources].

Either way, when it comes to history based fandoms, I tend to just look at the fandom/series as taking place in an AU - since otherwise I'd have the same problem you do.

An arcade nearby has Three Kingdoms as an interactive card game, and I can see so much more than just pairings now. Cao Cao/Xiahou Dun/Xiahou Yuan as a three-way, also Liu Bei/Guan Yu/Zhang Fei as a three-way. Zhou Yu, Sun Ce, and the two Qiaos as swingers hosting epic parties. Dong Zhou getting gang-raped, and so on.

There is just so very much source material to work with here, yay Three Kingdoms.

Oddly enough, I don't really ship Zhuge Liang with Liu Bei (...much), but I ship him with pretty much everyone else. Even people he's never met.

WTAF? History is not objective, history is subjective, written down by the winners. Just for fun, I dare you research one obscure small historical event which is only preserved by the narrative of the winner and then speculate how much of the shit written by them is propaganda. The answer is usually "a lot."

As for these two being the first ones to wish a happy ending for... Are you kidding? There are billions of people on this planet who died horrible premature deaths, were enslaved, raped, tortured, starved, exploited, eradicated from this planet. Nearly all of them deserved better, deserved a happy ending.

History is neither objective nor is unusual to wish a better fate than they had for people who lived in the past.

The only point you might have is that if we could travel in time it would be bad to change the past because of the grandfather paradox. Besides that you sound like you have either no clue about history or have no compassion for the people who lived it.
