I was bullied extensively throughout my schooling career, I never understood the violent reaction I hear from fellow victims. If anything it made me more sensitive to human fragility. :\

This! Though I basically made my own way in life, and got out of the cesspit that was the social Darwinist public education system in my province, as soon as I could. Finished two grades in one year, too. (All legit, through the Ministry of Education & everything.) Make your destiny, OP; don't let your past shape your destiny for you!

I was also severely bullied through high school, to the point where I was pulled out for my own protection, and like you, anon, I also still struggle with a lot of issues from that time, almost as long ago as it was for you.

I don't blame you for fantasizing about doing things to them. To this day I still imagine taking them to court and winning my case, considering some of the things they did ranged from sexual harassment to major veral abuse. Some people are just horrid, and it takes a long time to get over things like bullying.

I just wanted to let you know you're not alone.

Don't feel bad for fantasizing about things you'd do to people who hurt you -- trust me, every one, everywhere, has fantasized at some point about hurting someone who hurt them before. That's normal. It's only a problem when you feel the need to act, or DO act, on those thoughts.

Agreed. It felt really cathartic for me (went through what was pretty much hell in high school). What drives me NUTS is when people say "Oh, you have a choice! You could move to another school! Your life isn't over - at least you've still got your health. What about all the young people who get in accidents?"

Gee, thanks. My family was middle class and couldn't afford to send me anywhere else, and as a result, I'm now extremely shy and withdrawn, dealing with severe anxiety issues (I freeze up if I have to talk to anyone new), and have inferiority and insecurity complexes up the wazoo. But hey, at least I still have my health! *Facepalm*

grr, that "at least you still have your health" thing pisses me off. If you're suffering from anxiety issues, you *don't* have your health, because mental health is a thing, and a thing that people who don't have problems don't understand at all. Anxiety can be just as debilitating as a physical disability.

I have a friend who has a terrible pain disorder, and she has even said that she would much rather have to deal with her physical issue than have no semblance of self/be in the dark places that depression can leave you in.

Anyone that has never experience *real* depression cannot possibly understand. Mental health issues also present as physical symptoms and can lead to health issues; eating disorders, cutting, psychosomatic issues etc.

I also love when people say about depression that you can 'just get over it'. No. Actually.

I thought I had included this information with the secret, but either I messed it up or they forgot to post it- it's from an episode of CSI: Miami entitled "Stoned Cold." A girl is found tied to a goal post on a high school football field stoned to death. Investigation gets complicated because it turns out she was a notorious bully (admittedly, far, far worse than anything I ever delt with, because, well, it's a TV show) and pretty much every kid in school plus the principal has motive.

Don't know what this is from, but I see no problem with having violent fantasies. It's much healthier than other ways of dealing with anger, as long as it doesn't leave your head. And if you ask anyone, I'd bet at least half the human population has those kinds of daydreams. You aren't a bad person, and if you find catharsis in seeing such scenes played out in fiction, then by all means, seek them out and let it happen. The only time these thoughts are ever a problem is if you act on them.

Also, if it helps any: Being treated the way you were is a perfectly valid reason to imagine such things. For some people, the smallest annoyances will set them off into brief but intense "flares" where they will fantasize about torturing and murdering that asshole who just cut them off in traffic. It's still harmless, but it's not justified, whereas being bullied and tormented for years is good cause to be angry. Not everyone comes out the other side of that with their life and sanity intact. It's never deserved, and it's not necessary for the world to function.

people keep saying this, but the day I challenged her and broke her arm improved my life considerably. Then they day I belted him in the face was the last time anybody fucked with me ever in all of school.

The difference is that I didn't go out to kill anybody or cripple them or direct it at anybody who wasn't doing shit to me right then or there. I think if I let it fester it would have been something worse.

Well, if it's because they attacked you physically, then I'd classify it as self-defense even if it goes beyond what they were trying to do to you. I guess I assumed emotional bullying when I read the secret, but by all means, if someone tries to kill you, you try to kill them right back if you're antagonized physically, it's all well and good to retaliate as long as you don't cause any permanent damage.

That's my stance on things, anyway.

Attacking would be too strong a word. I definitely escalated it though, won't pretend it was some "they were throwing punches first" thing, I punched first in the latter case. It's nothing something I have had to deal with in years, though I suppose there are some versions of emotional antagonism where I might have responded that way. Like if somebody insulted my grandmother or something? That's kinda harder to say though, cause that didn't happen.

I will say the folks I eventually hauled off on didn't just start with physical antagonism, and the second case I'd put up with shit for one week and had a big ass "not again" chip on my shoulder.

I think the problem is, people bottle it up till they wanna shoot up their school or crap. I don't think I ever had a more violent fantasy then whacking somebody, probably cause before it went beyond that I'd whack somebody. I imagine the key to having that not become unhealthy is to keep a level perspective on when that's necessary. Being the crazy kid that goes off on the drop of a hat just makes you a target for anybody who wants a show, or will get you hauled off and/or expelled. Since I've only had my own experience, I can't tell others when that time is, though by the time it's physical I'd say it's time. My whole goal was "not worth it" in that if you fucked with me I'd make it clear that I wasn't worth it, the pain would outweigh any amusement.
