To be honest, the way that pairing took over the fandom like THAT made me drop both the fandom and the show before the first season even ended. I've heard the ending is unsatisfying so I dunno if I'll ever finish it at this point.

Yeeeah, the ending isn't the best. I was confused by its lack of...um, quality, I guess. The Shizaya obsession turned me off a bit, but I stayed in the show for Celty.

If I DID continue the show again, it'd be for Celty and Shinra, those were the only two characters I really got into. Which was REALLY disappointing for me since I adore the characters in Baccano! I'm not sure what happened.

While I found some aspects of their relationship a little frustrating, and I thought Shinra was misguided in a lot of ways, the fluff between them was one of the high points for me. Whereas in Baccano, it felt to me like they'd taken the best characters from several unused stories and just thrown them all into one big hullaballoo.

Oh yeah, Shinra's definitely misguided (from what I saw, anyway) but I love misguided characters. :) And that's a great way to put Baccano! Since they were animated by the same studio and based on novels by the same guy, it's really perplexing to me that the characters in DRRR were so much less interesting than Baccano. Is it part of the original novels, like the author just has more of a creative spark with the Baccano! series? Or is the adaptation job just not as good for Durarara!!? (Although that seems funny since it actually had more episodes.) Maybe the 1930s setting is just more appealing for me? I can't figure it out.
