I see. This s basically how I rationalize it, though. They're not really the Norse Gods from mythology, they're spacemen.

But.. they said this. At the beginning of the movie.

The myths were based on these aliens. So of course they won't follow it exactly, they are the real thing, and the myths are going to get shit wrong after Milena of retelling and embellishment. If you went expecting a movie accurate to Norse Mythology after that, then you were just being too optimistic.

Though the comic (which actually would probably have been more satisfactory to you then the movie, they are treated more as literal gods there)
explained Sif. Loki took her hair when he felt slighted by her. Then as I recall he ended up selling it to dwarves. Since he couldn't replace it afterwards when he was caught, he spun her black hair from something or another instead.

She never completely forgave him for that.

The alien thing isn't that big, it's just that they're these basically-immortal, very long lived super-advanced beings that live on an asteroid floating in space and travel between the nine realms through a controlled wormhole and are basically the protectors of the universe(s?).

(Apologies to the Mormon posters on F!S, from a heterodox Christian who has gotten a fair share of misunderstanding/bigotry from creedal (ie Catholic/Protestant) religion, too...but that's literally the first thought that popped into my head....)
