And OP sounds like they take themself too seriously and can't enjoy entertainment for entertainment's sake. Maybe I'm just not invested enough in the Deep Unadulterated Truth/Source and think it's pretty fun to reinterpret things, but I think I'm still getting the better end of the deal.
