...Sif wasn't even a warrior in the traditional myths. All she did was sit around looking pretty. (And then there was that one time Loki called her a ho. Oh what an adventure that was!) And Thor is supposed to have had red hair in the myths - Stan Lee made him blond. Not to mention your rooting for Loki is pretty anti-traditional as well. You are picking and choosing what is okay to change and what isn't.

I'm a polytheist too, and mythology/folklore makes up a lot of my reading material - it's safe to say I'm pretty invested in it. But in my view, when it comes to modern adaptations, I'm far less concerned with "accuracy" when it comes to the plot or matters of lineage or haircolor, and far more concerned with "accuracy" when it comes to the characters themselves. It's natural for the details of these stories - even the names - to change over time, when told in different places, by different people. It happened back then, and it happens now. What matters to me is the ultimate message of those stories, and the core personalities of the gods and heroes involved - that's what makes the material "recognizable" (or not.) I really don't think Marvel betrays the character of Thor, Loki, Odin or Baldr, nor the meaning behind their relationships to one another, even if some of the stories Marvel tells about them are very different.
