I watched Spoony's review of this, and he says pretty much the same thing.

I was just about to say, "Spoony, is that you?"

Very true either way though. I hated Tidus.

Tidus is the protagonist, but Yuna is the hero. I actually think it's an interesting choice that they chose to do it that way. It's like if LOTR were written entirely from Sam's perspective.

Except, you know, Sam and Frodo weren't in love with each other. (I know, I know, shut up...)
