Not hating on you, but why are you watching the show if you hate the Doctor so much?

I like to call them the "Verity Lambert Ruined Dr Who FOREVER!1!" fans. They just like watching it to bitch about it, nothing, nothing will ever satisfy them about the show.

But I love hating the Doctor.

I mean, really, Darth Vader blew up an entire planet, but Star Wars just wouldn't be the same without him. Likewise, I think Doctor Who is at its best when the Doctor does something questionable. It's one one the most important sources for Drama for the series, since the Doctor is basically the most powerful being in the universe, and you know from the beginning that he'll always beat the baddies of the week. The question is, at what cost? I like the 'the Doctor is his own worst enemy' theme, simply because it's so rare he's up against someone equal.

Basically, there's a difference between disliking a person and disliking a character. I love my friends dearly, but I wouldn't honestly want to watch a series about their lives, and I like a lot of characters precisely because I wouldn't want to be friends with them in real life.

Yes! <3 Although, if she never returned from E-Space, then it would either the Doctor wasn't telling the truth about being the last of his kind or that he's forgotten about her. I'd like to believe that if he thought there was even the slightest chance that she might be alive he would do anything in power to find her.

I've watched Doctor Who since Third. Loved 'em all, even strangly Doctor.

And I like what Matt Smith's Doctor could be, if the scripts didn't keep making him do awful things. Now I'm just holding out, hoping it will get better, or Moffatt will eventually move on.

[And before the inevitable "Moffatt-hater" accusation comes up, I loved (most of) Moffatt's stand-alone episodes. I was looking forward to his run. But he's destroying all the good things about the series, and thinking "oh that's a cool idea!" will somehow be enough to replace it.]

I still say we've been down this road before...they did exactly the same thing to poor Colin Baker. At least Tennant knew enough to get outta Dodge. (Which, if he didn't after Waters of Mars, would have to have been a preeeeeetty big red flag to miss....)
