I didn't hate the Doctor for it. I was upset, sure, but it was a bad situation with no other way out. He tried to get the Tardis to sustain the paradox of having two Amy's on board but she couldn't.

The Doctor isn't always the good guy. He does what he has to in order to achieve what he believes to be right. They don't call him "The Destroyer of Worlds" because he's fuzzy and cuddly all the time.

Plus I'm pretty sure he hates himself more than you ever could for all these above reasons and more. See his argument with the Tardis over the voice interface. "Oh give me someone I at least like..."
